Reading assignment and practice problems (Fallacies)
Contemporary Math Section 3 T/Th 11:30am - Fall 2024
In this part of the logic unit we will talk about common rhetorical fallacies that are used by speakers to sway the audience. This may be the most important reading of the semester. It is my goal for you to recognize certain fallacies so that you can better know when someone is using them on you.
Read: In the logic chapter read pages 162-164.
Also, go to this website and read this columnist's analysis of some tweets from politicians.
Do: Practice problems after the reading: 29 - 31 (on page 171). These problems do not need to be turned in, but should be done for practice.
